Oil on canvas painting by Gregory John entitled Dust to Dust. My inspiration for this painting was driven by the death of my father and the reality that no matter what; birth, death and decay are an inevitable part of life. In order for me to come to terms with it I needed to express this process in paint a complex body is composed of simple elements, a painting no matter how complex, is composed of three primary colours The image depicts the process of birth-death and decay by showing the life-death cycle in the paint returning back to its former state.
